FAQ
CBD (Cannabidiol) is one of the main and many components found within the cannabis plant. Using our CB1 receptors (Found primarily in the Central Nervous System) and CB2 receptors (Found primarily in the Peripheral Nervous System), the CBD engages with our Endocannabinoid System.
Despite the fact that you most likely have never heard of such a system, you've always had it. Not only that, but it's one of our main systems and also one of the largest. The receptors for cannabinoids span across the whole of our body. Exo-cannabinoids (externally sourced) and Endo-Cannabinoids (Internally sourced, 2-AG and Anandamide) are antagonists to our CB receptors. These are what cause the system to function and in doing so, helps to maintain a level of balance across our body.
Whilst CBD generally is a safe product, there are certain instances where we have to turn people away or advise them to consult a GP first.
For example, CBD should not be used when pregnant. This is because certain components such as the presence of a trace of THC in some products can effect the development of the baby's brain in the womb.
Another thing to watch for is an interaction with certain medications. The main ones we see in store are statins/warfarin (Blood thinners) however, any medication that carries a grapefruit warning, carries the same warning with CBD. We use "www.drugs.com/drug_interactions" to check medication interactions and you can too!
This is a question we hear frequently. Much to the disappointment of some, CBD will not cause a high. It is a non-psychoactive substance, not to be confused with THC, the psychoactive component found within cannabis. The black market cannabis grown today has been bred for a high THC content, unlike CBD which more often than not, comes from Cannabinoid-rich hemp, with very little THC content. Not all CBD products contain trace of THC either, broad-spectrum and CBD Isolate products are available.
